Signs of Heat Related Illness:  Signs of heat exhaustion can include (but are not limited to) dizziness, headaches, nausea, and tiredness.  It is important to be aware of these signs so that you can cool down before the condition turns into a more serious heat stroke, which is considered a medical emergency.  Check out the information below to learn more about heat related illnesses.

Heat Index and Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT):  Florida summers are not just hot, they are also humid.  Humidity can have a significant effect on your body's ability to handle the heat.  When planning outdoor activities, it is important to check the "feels like" temperature that is determined by either the heat index or the WBGT.  Preparing accordingly can help keep you and your loved ones safe while outside.

Local Cooling Centers:  The Christian Service Center in downtown Orlando has opened a cooling center to assist unhoused individuals stay cool.  The center is located at 808 W. Central Blvd. Orlando, FL 32805. (Updated 8/3/23)
