Teacher Connect

A teacher's guide to OCLS resources.

Children's Initiative

As part of our Children’s Initiative, every Orange County Public Elementary School has a dedicated staff liaison from the Orange County Library System (OCLS). Liaisons can answer questions about library services and make school visits. Call 407.835.7323 to connect with Jennifer Schock, Youth Outreach Coordinator, or send an e-mail to schock.jennifer@ocls.info. Middle and high schools can also contact the Youth Outreach Coordinator with questions or requests for services.

Virtual Library Card

All Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) educators and currently enrolled students are automatically registered for a virtual library account. Learn how to make the most of the Virtual Library Card here.

  • A parent or legal guardian is not required for the juvenile's library card account privileges.
  • No fines or fees will accrue, as this type of account doesn't provide checking out of library materials or registration for classes or events.

How students log on:

  • Access Launchpad on OCPS device
  • Click on VLC icon
  • Sign in with your Student ID and PIN (birthdate: YYYYMMDD)

Educator log on:

  •  Contact your school administrator for login credentials

Field Trips to the Library

A field trip to the library is a great way to celebrate literacy any time of year. The Orlando Public Library offers several programs for your school to choose from including library tours, storytimes and database classes. Branch locations offer storytimes and general library tours as well as tours that may highlight a specific part of the collection. Tours of a branch are available by special arrangement with the particular location of interest. The best part is all library field trip services are free of charge.

Library Outreach Services

The library makes strides each year to promote literacy and create greater awareness of the services we offer. Invite the library to your next school/community event! Contact Jennifer Schock, Youth Outreach Coordinator at schock.jennifer@ocls.info.

  • Storytelling
Our professional storytellers are available free of charge to make school visits for large groups of students. They combine songs, stories, and popular books in fun sessions for all ages. Call 407.835.7323 to schedule a date for this popular service.
  • School Visits
Library staff can visit your school for family nights, open houses and more. Email schock.jennifer@ocls.info or call 407.835.7323 to request a visit.
