Freading News

Notice from Library Ideas about the Freading app -

We will be upgrading the Freading app and experience. The primary change will be eliminating the need to sign-up for an Adobe Digital Editions Account – a process many have found cumbersome and confusing.

We will be moving to a Single Sign On method which is currently used by many of your trusted vendors. New users will be able to establish an account with an email address of any kind and a password. When they use the website or mobile app for the first time, they will be asked for their library card number and PIN. Once that information has been entered, they will be able to enjoy Freading books seamlessly without having to sign-up separately with Adobe. Existing Freading users will be asked to create a Freading account with an email and password one time, and then they can proceed as before.

The upgrade will cause no interruption in service. Clear, on-screen instructions on the new process will be provided for your patrons.

To make this transition as smooth as possible, we will need a little time for testing to ensure we have everything working exactly as it needs to.  We have set a Go Live date of September 14, 2021.

Freading Setup

Freading Features

From the Freading FAQ:

"Freading is compatible with Kindle Fire HDs and Nook HDs. However, the "Get Books" feature may not work reliably on these devices due to modifications with their operating systems. If you experience this, please use an external browser to go to your library's Freading page and download books into our Freading app.  We recommend using Opera, Dolphin, or Firefox."
