Overdrive news 10/16/24
On November 13, 2024, Overdrive will retire the MP3 audiobook format from OverDrive library websites and end support for OverDrive's desktop apps for Windows and Mac (which only work with MP3 audiobooks).
After this change, you can listen to audiobooks using the following options:
Register for OverDrive Account with email and password OR library card # and PIN.
eBooks – download Adobe Digital Editions for Windows 7, 8, or 10 and for Macs
Audiobooks - Download OverDrive Desktop for Windows 7 (or older)/Mac. Download OverDrive app for Windows 8 or 10.
Videos—Streaming videos will play in most up-to-date web browsers.
With OverDrive Read, you can read borrowed ebooks and magazines right in your web browser with a single click. There are no downloads or software required.
With OverDrive Listen, you can borrow audiobooks and listen to them right in your web browser with a single click. There are no downloads or software required.
20 checkouts total.
10 holds; flexible checkout periods-7, 14, 21 days for all formats except videos.
1 time renewal option 3 days before due date if available otherwise item placed on hold list.
Early returns available for eBooks and for most Audiobooks.
Videos – Checkout 3 for 7 days. Part of the 20 checkout total. Watch unlimited times during checkout period.
Overdrive Read and Overdrive Listen are streaming services.
Audiobooks/eBooks - Fiction & Nonfiction; Adult, Young Adult, Juvenile selections. Browse by Subjects and subcategories. Limit by Available Now, Format, Language and other terms. Wish lists, History available in apps. Small selection in Spanish.
Kindle format eBooks available for Kindle readers and Kindle Reading app.
Videos – Documentaries, fitness, travel, how to’s, science, foreign films, and older feature films available to browse by Subject.
