As we wrap up our celebration of 100 years of OCLS, we are excited to see what the next 100 years will bring. In considering what the future of library services will look like, we need to start with a new strategic plan. We will be working with Fast Forward Libraries, a company who specializes in strategic planning for public libraries, to achieve this goal. A new strategic plan will keep us on track to continue removing barriers, meeting people where they are, and finding new ways to serve our community. Because our people are at the core of everything we do, a Strategic Planning Committee has been formed to assist in communicating information to and gathering feedback from staff and customers.
The best way to encourage the successful design and implementation of a new Strategic Plan is to listen to the voices of all stakeholders. How can you help us to do that?
Four locations will host focus groups in January 2024. Each event is an opportunity for the community to share their ideas for what they want the library to provide. Please encourage customers to register for the focus group that best fits their schedule. They'll only need to attend one focus group meeting.

The Community Survey will be open for customers to fill out from December 1, 2023 - January 7, 2024.
It's an opportunity for OCLS customers to give their feedback on library resources, programs, and events that they engage with, as well as the chance to lend their voice to the future of the library. Please encourage your customers to take the survey!
The Community survey is available in English, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, and Spanish. Marketing materials with a QR code directing customers to the survey will be made available soon.
If customers wish to fill out a paper survey, please print one for them from the options below.
Staff Survey
An email was sent to all staff by Amanda Standerfer (Amanda@fastforwardlibraries.com) containing a link to the Strategic Capacity Assessment. This survey is an important part of creating our new strategic plan and is our opportunity as staff to share our feedback and perspective. We ask that all staff complete it before it closes at 11:59pm on December 29th.
The survey appears to have gone to spam folders for some staff, so if you do not see this in your inbox, please check your spam folder for the email titled You're invited to complete the OCLS Strategic Capacity Assessment!
The start of the survey includes some instructions and a video explaining the details and purpose of the survey, and what they are trying to learn with each section.
