Learn a Language: Library Resources

OCLS has several resources available for foreign language learning. This Libguide provides you with some of the books, web applications, and mobile resources available to you for language learning.

The Library offers a variety of materials to meet your language learning needs. Locate items in the catalog by your language of interest, and Material Type using Advanced Search. Immerse yourself in the language with our Foreign Films, for example, Foreign Films Italy. Compactdiscs and Playaways are great for learning on the go. Try it!


Streaming Videos

Watch these curriculum oriented multimedia videos from home or in the Library. These English as a Second Language videos include worksheets, teacher-guides, and online resources.

ESL Software


An interactive computer based English as a second language program for all learning levels. Native guides are available in Spanish, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, and Vietnamese for ESL students.

Availability: This software is currently at the Alafaya, Edgewater, Herndon, North Orange, South Creek, South Trail, Southeast,  Washington Park, Windermere, and Winter Garden locations for anyone with an Orange County resident library card, fee card, or PC pass.

Multiple locations and dates

Join other new English speakers for conversational English practice. A certified instructor with the Adult Literacy League, will lead and facilitate programs. Registration is required, please call 407.835.7323 to reserve your spot! This program is presented through a partnership established between the Orange County Library System and the Adult Literacy League, Inc.
